About Us

We are Tina, Andrew, Bronwyn and Anika from Toronto, Canada. We are off for a year-long round the world adventure leaving December 2010 and returning December 2011.

Tina is a wife, mom, friend, and a part-time atmospheric data analyst, with a long-time desire to take a year and travel around the world. She is very excited to be able to share this dream with her family.

Andrew works for Environment Canada. His work takes him on regular travel to the Canadian Arctic (where we met) where he oversees the operation of an air pollution monitoring laboratory in Alert, Nunavut. Andrew is a seasoned traveller, having completed a round the world backpacking trip following university graduation. He is looking forward to visiting some of the same places from 16(!) years ago, and sharing them with his family.

Bronwyn is 10 years old, and is looking forward to a year away from school, and learning while we go. She has been on numerous family holidays, including a 3 month road trip to California in a VW camper van. Though apprehensive about leaving her friends and school, she is looking forward to snorkelling, eating Pad Thai in Thailand, and seeing the Great Wall of China.

Anika is 7 years old. She has also experienced numerous family holidays, though her memories of these trips are limited since she was young when they happened. She is looking forward to many new memories from this trip, and is excited about travelling and seeing the Eifel Tower.

And there we are, a neat and concise summary of who we are. We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to spend this year together and see and do lots of new things. Feel free to join us on our adventure by entering your e-mail address in the top right corner and subscribe to our blog. We will do our best to keep it updated with our latest adventures. Thanks for reading!!

Way to go you Guys – your well-timed departure coincides with Toronto’s first snow that will stay – ~ 5 cm by tomorrow morning. While we go out for a forest walk along the Rouge River today, no doubt we’ll think of you, disembarking into Hawaian warmth. Enjoy and we’ll try to enjoy the hot chocolate fully, too…
